Trigger Point Release

Trigger points are palpable knots in the muscle tissue. Sometimes called myofascial trigger points (MTrP), their presence can cause pain and muscle shortening or muscle spasms.  These hyper-irritable spots can cause referred pain, or pain that is further away from the actual knot. To relieve pain from a trigger point, it will have to be released. To release a trigger point, a practitioner will palpate areas on the body that feel stiff with light manual pressure. Once a trigger point is identified, manual pressure is applied, along with stretching to release any tension within the muscle.

How ASTR Releases Trigger Points

Advanced Soft Tissue Release (abbreviated as ASTR) is a new manual therapy specialty that is revolutionizing the way patients experience long-term pain relief. With ASTR treatment, the practitioner will identify the trigger point and begin to apply manual pressure. Further along in the treatment the practitioner will use specialized, patented tools to gently release and remove the scar tissue that is creating a trigger point. ASTR treats pain in a gentle, effective, and natural way, and takes a holistic approach to address the root causes of pain, not just the symptoms. Many patients experience relief from pain after their first treatment! Learn how ASTR can help you or watch testimonial videos from patients who experienced pain relief through ASTR treatment.
