What is Radicular Pain?

Radicular Pain is a sensation that occurs in the lower extremity.  It is sometimes associated with sciatica or radiculopathy.  Radicular pain is when the spinal nerve root or roots are irritated which causes the nerves to send inconsistent pain signals to the brain.

Radicular Pain Causes

  1. Compression or inflammation on the affected nerves
  2. Herniated disc
  3. Previous injury to the spine
  4. Stenosis
  5. Peridural fibrosis

Radicular Pain Symptoms

  1. Leg pain
  2. Numbness or tingling
  3. Muscle weakness
  4. Loss of reflexes
  5. Referred pain
