What Is ASTR?
What Is ASTR?
ASTR is a biopsychosocial treatment model that utilizes unique ASTR instruments, maneuvers, theories, and methodologies to treat pain at its source. ASTR treatment includes working on multiple aspects including: scar tissue, fascia restriction, trigger points, muscle spasms, ergonomics, gait, exercise, nutrition, inflammation, stress management, and behavior modification.
Results from a recent neck study conducted on ASTR patients found that there was an 87% success rate for patients who went through our program!
Origin of ASTR
Advanced Soft Tissue Release was developed in 2011 by Dr. Joseph Jacobs, Doctor of Physical Therapy. He is a cancer survivor who used to suffer from chronic migraines, headaches, fatigue, and pain and was very frustrated with the outcomes he was seeing using the traditional modalities he had learned in school. This is what led him to develop Advanced Soft Tissue Release (ASTR).
He has received approvals for 5 ASTR patents and is constantly working on developing new instruments and methodologies. Dr. Jacobs teaches his specialty to other practitioners worldwide!
Growing up as a minority in Egypt, I faced persecution, discrimination, and was told I would never amount to much. I was restricted by the government regarding what I could study and by the age of 7, I was diagnosed with cancer. When I was 18, I applied and eventually won the lottery to come to the US. I arrived speaking only Arabic and worked as a security guard, while learning English as I finished my BA and doctoral program.
I battled cancer again during my final year of the program and almost died twice post-surgery, but still passed my board exams. I have dedicated my life to researching and developing ASTR’s theories, methodologies of treatment, specialty instruments, and over 125 maneuvers to treat the full body.
This is a shout out to all of you dreamers who are still waiting to see your dreams fulfilled. It may not happen today, next week, years or decades, but never give up! Do not lose hope! Persist!
