Physical Therapy CEU Requirements by the State
CEU stands for continuing education unit, also called continuing education credit or CEC, and is used for recording the non-credit educational experiences of an individual. CEUs are standard measures of continuing education programs and are commonly used by people who aim to maintain their professional license. Each CEU signifies 10 hours of an education program. CEUs also enable the training providers to assess the quality of educational programs and indicate compliance with international standards. As opposed to college credits, CEUs are used by individuals who have already obtained a degree and looking forward to continuing their education and training. CEUs are formulated to achieve the following goals. [1]
- CEUs serve as standard measuring units for continued education and training.
- CEUs quantify the continued education and training.
- CEUs demonstrate different training providers and activities in adult continued education and training.
CEU Requirements for Renewing Physical Therapy License
CEUs are used by physical therapists for renewing their licenses. The duration of education programs and training may vary depending on whether the license is expired or not. CEUs associated with the American Physical Therapy Association is validated by most licensure boards across the country. [2]
