Neuromuscular Therapy
Neuromuscular therapy (NMT) is a complete examination and treatment of the soft tissue within the body. NMT is a type of deep tissue massage therapy implemented with the hands and claims to treat any injury in the soft tissue of the body. A painful muscle or a muscle spasm may be due to the lack of blood restricting oxygen supply to the muscle. A lack of oxygen creates lactic acid and causes the muscle to feel sore. The NMT treatment is used to relax the muscle and release the lactic acid so the muscle can receive sufficient blood and oxygen.
After neuromuscular therapy there may be light soreness, but it should go away within 24 to 36 hours. The muscle should feel relief as long as there is no stress or injury involved.
