Repetitive Strain Injury

Repetitive strain injuries occur with repeated physical movement and overuse of muscles, nerves, tendons, and soft tissue.  Repetitive use of one particular area can cause damage or strain to the area.  Repetitive strain injuries can occur and where in the body but are mostly common in the hands, arms, and shoulders.  These injuries are common to find in the workplace, where the same activities are performed repeatedly on a daily basis.  Examples of occupations that experience repetitive strain injuries are cooks, constructors, and musicians.  When an area of the body is repetitively used and experiencing strain the symptoms can subside if activity is seized but with continuation chronic pain can occur.  Prevention and early treatment is key.
